活動報告（協働）

台風17号が九州北部へ接近することが予想され、開催が危ぶまれた「V・ファーレン長崎を応援してまちを元気に！」。まちを元気にしたい多数のV・ファーレンサポーターや関係者、長崎市民・県民の願いが通じたのか、台風が予想進路を北寄りに変えて進んだおかげで、当日、予定どおりの開催となりました。

GPからは留学生を含む３人の学生がボランティアとして参加し、会場内での来場者の誘導や案内、キッズを対象としたコーナーの運営補助を行いました。

会場では、選手らによるキッズ対象のサッカー教室が開催されるとあって、たくさんの子どもたちが保護者同伴で来場。選手たちに負けない若さのボランティア学生が、子どもたちが安全にプレーできるようてきぱきと補助、見守りを行いました。

また、市長やV・ファーレン長崎の高田社長、選手らによるトークショーにも多くの来場者があり、イベント運営系のボランティアに数多く参加してきたベテランボランティア学生は、周囲を観察し、誘導が手薄になっているところや他の参加学生のケアも対応し、縁の下の力持ちとして活躍しました。

今シーズンも残りわずか。V・ファーレン長崎が来季につながるようなパフォーマンスを発揮できるよう、長崎全体で盛り上げていこうという機運が高まるイベントになり、ボランティアとして参加できた学生たちにも有意義な一日となりました。

Amid concerns over the typhoon coming up to Nagasaki, the incitement rally event for V Varen Nagasaki was getting ready to be made it.

As for volunteer students, they were having mixed feelings of excitement and uneasiness up until the very last minute of the day but the weather was totally on our side and the event went on as scheduled.

About twenty students including GP member fellows (1 Japanese female and 2 international males) took part in as volunteers to assist running the 1-day soccer school for kids and the panel session of the team’s president, players, and mayor of Nagasaki.

大村市内の小学校５、６年生の子どもたちと英語を用いたゲームやレクリエーションなど様々な活動を行う3日間のイングリッシュサマーキャンプ、今年も開催されました。昨年に引き続き、子どもたちの積極性や英語学習への意欲を引き出すお手伝いのボランティアとして、GP登録留学生にもお声がかかり、エジプト、タイ、バングラデシュ出身の学生3名が参加しました。

同キャンプは大村市主催の毎夏恒例のキャンプ。アルファベットに親しんだり、簡単な英語での挨拶ができるようにと工夫が凝らされた各種アクティビティが盛りだくさんで、毎年大盛況です。

今年は3名の留学生のうち、日本語に不慣れな学生もおり、最初は小学生とのコミュニケーションに時間がかかったようですが、同学生も持ち前のフレンドリーな性格でどんどん英語で小学生に質問攻撃。小学生にとっては逆に否応なく英語を使わないといけない環境に置かれることになったので、結果として、とても実践的な学習の場になったようです。

GP留学生３名以外にも他大から数名の留学生が参加していたり、日本の小学生とボランティア留学生全員で寝食を共にすることで、国境を越えた友情や消えることのない思い出を手に入れることができました。

There held the English Summer Camp for elementary school kids in Omura. This camp is annually planned and run by Omura municipality and has lots of organized fun activities for kids to promote participant kids to get familiar with English and nurture a sense of their role as a world citizen.

Followed by last summer, Omura city hall eagerly invited some international students of Nagasaki uni then GP selected its 3 fellows to join in the camp as assistant volunteers to spend 2 nights with kids, assisting and inspiring them to learn English.

Despite the bad weather and language barrier (which was fully expected beforehand!), the camp was successfully made to happen as an amazing international experience for both kids and volunteer students as well as all the others involved. 

長崎大学のOB有志によって2009年に発足したアートグループNPO「RING ART」（※）が毎年8月9日に開催する「折り鶴パフォーマンス」（※）という活動をご存知でしょうか。

通行人や旅人みんなで平和の願いを込めて色紙で折り鶴を作り、爆心地公園の平和記念館への石段中腹に建つ『長崎誓いの火』という灯火台モニュメントに、折り鶴を貼り付けようというものです。

今夏、その活動にGPの留学生2名がボランティアとして参加し、道行く人に活動の趣旨を説明したり、折り鶴作りを呼び掛けたり、作り方を教えたりました。暑い中でしたが、多くの外国人観光客の方が快く折り鶴作りに加わってくださったようで、参加留学生らは、原爆記念日という大切な日に長崎に居合わせて、国籍関係なく平和を希求する思いを共有できたことに感動していました。

Upon facing August 9, you have chances to encounter many commemorative events held across Nagasaki. Remarkably, GP wants to highlight “Origami Paper Crane Performance” event, one of creative and artistic initiatives by NPO which was established a decade ago by Nagasaki University alumni, since two international students of GP participated as volunteers in this summer.

The purpose of this event has the origin to share the hope for peace through art-oriented activities and successfully has been held four consecutive years.

Following every year, staff members of the NPO and many volunteers called visitors and pedestrians to fold paper cranes, showing how to fold it and asking them to decorate the "Monument for the Nagasaki Flame of Commitment" with cranes. 

GP students amazingly felt honored to be there in Nagasaki on this memorial 8.9 and be a part of this initiative so that they could not help being moved while lots of tourists and passerby willingly joined in the chain of hope.

・たくさんの外国の方が折り鶴を作って祈ってくれて感動しました。また、国によって、折り鶴の作り方に少しずつ違いがあって、それも興味深く感じたことの一つです。（台湾人女子留学生）／There were a lot of foreigners willing to make a paper crane for praying. I found that  every countries there are some little differences of making paper-crane. It was interesting! (Taiwanese female student)

海に面した国道202号線（通称「サンセットロード」）では毎月一度、まちづくりに取り組む地元のNPOの呼びかけで、サンセットロードの草刈りや清掃作業、道路花壇の植栽などを行っています。

その活動にぜひ若い力が加わってほしいと呼びかけをいただき、GPの留学生４名が参加させていただきました。

当日は活動開始の朝9時前からすでに強烈な直射日光が照りつける猛暑日になりましたが、同NPOの世話役みなさまの丁寧な指導や配慮により、最後まで誰ひとり熱中症になることなく、芋畑の草取りや公園内の水撒き作業をやりきることができました。

活動だけでなく、地元の方との交流や外海の景観に触れることも彼らにとって有意義な経験になったようです。

There is a non-profit organization which tackles to local/community development around Sotome area in Nagasaki and one of its highlighted initiatives is ecology & environment activity held along the Route 202 (so-called “Sunset Road”) once a month.

Thankfully, the organization invited students to join in this activity and 4 international fellows from GP took part in.

As following the severe heat these days, so it was on the day, starting with scorching sun shine from very early morning. Thanks to the precautions and consideration taken by the volunteer host, however, 4 member students got successfully managed to engage in weeding on potatoes fields and watering flower beds in a park and along the road without suffering from heatstroke.

All these works seemed to be a lot of sweat but much worthy doing in regard to cooperating with locals and viewing panoramic landscape of Sotome.

・今回のボランティア活動はさつまいも畑の草取りなどで、実は私自身、故郷のアフリカで似たような経験は何度かありましたが、それでも今回の活動はおもしろかったです。主催者の皆さんが、私たちがストレスなく活動できるよう、様々に心を砕いてくれ関わってくれたからです。（ガーナ人男子留学生）／Our volunteer activity was farming (clearing weeds from sweet potato farm) which was quite interesting even though this was not my first time of performing such an activity as I have some experience in farming back in Africa, the organizers did their best in coordinating the activities and made sure we felt comfortable without any stress. 伊王島では年に１度の市民大清掃が行われます。NPO法人長崎アイランズアクト３が主催となって行われる同清掃は今年で３度目となり、伊王島周辺だけでなく広域の住民や地元企業、また長崎県下の学生にボランティアとしての参加の呼びかけが行われ、GPの学生も参加させていただきました。

・長崎大学にいながらも自分の知らない有意義な活動を主催している団体を初めて知りました。（中国人女子学生）

・地元の人たちと一緒に海岸に捨てられたゴミを拾って、異なるボランティア協会の人たちと一緒に努力して、海の環境を守りました。本当に素晴らしい経験でした。（中国人男子留学生）
