活動報告

平成最後の年賀状！せっかくならみんなで楽しく作りたい！そんな思いから企画されたyear end party！留学生のみんなと一緒に年賀状を作ってみると、斬新すぎるアイディアがいっぱい！「無料」や「関西」と書いてみたり、折り紙をそのまま貼り付けたりもしていました！私達日本人も、英語で宛名をどう書くか知らなかったり、外国に年賀状を送れるのか知らずにタジタジするシーンも！わかったつもりになっていることも、みんなでやってみると実は奥が深いってことがあることを知れた、そんな有意義な企画となりました。お越し下さった皆さんありがとうございます！良いお年を！　（GP学生企画運営委員3年）

“New Year's card for the last year of Heisei era!” “We want to make fun together with everyone!”

The party was planned from such our thoughts. Once the party kicked off, I was surprised at how original and innovative ideas international students had!

On each New Year postcard, someone tried writing, in calligraphy, "No-charge" or "Kansai" and some glued various objects folded by origami to make it like a 3D pop up card!

As for myself, to be shamed, I did not know how to write street addresses in English, or was not sure whether it is available to send Japanese New Year postcard overseas without any additional procedures or charges…

This opportunity to exchange cultures and review our Japanese staple customs turned out to be meaningful rather for us, Japanese students.

  西坂小学校で行われたもちつき大会に、本プログラムからも留学生12名、日本人学生4名、計16名が参加させていただきました。

  まずは、体育館で長崎中学校音楽部のみなさんによるハンドベルの演奏がありました。
  きれいな音色にうっとりしたり、一緒に歌を口ずさんだりと、素敵な会のスタートでした。

  運動場では、雨の中、早くから地域の方々が準備をして下さっており、いつでも餅つきが始められる様子。
  せいろで蒸し上げられたもち米や、杵と臼など、はじめて見るものばかりの留学生にとっては全てが新鮮に感じられ、実際に餅つきをさせてもらうと、「杵ってこんなに重いの？」「みんなで息を合わせてつくのが難しい」「とにかくみんなでする餅つきはおもしろかった！」と様々な感想を聞くことができました。
  つきたてのお餅や豚汁もいただき、日本での貴重な体験の一つとなりました。
一緒に参加していた小学生や中学生とちょっとした英語での交流もでき、楽しい一日を過ごさせていただきました。

  雨の中、準備をして下さり、楽しい活動に参加させてくださった地域の皆様、先生方、お世話になり、本当にありがとうございました！

  これからも、様々な活動でご一緒できる機会を楽しみにしております。

Nishizaka primary school invited GP member students to its annually “mochi-tsuki (rice cake pounding)” event and total 16 fellows consisting of 4 Japanese and 12 international youngsters participated in!

Unfortunately, it had been cold raining from the morning and seemed to have less participants but there turned out to be nothing to worry! As for an opening ceremony in the gymnasium, a handbell band club of Nagasaki junior high school performed several songs with various sized handbells, which intoxicated all the audience and the atmosphere was warmed up.

Then outside, regardless of the limited space for mochi pounding due to rain, GP students got excited at the sight of outside chimneys exhaling steam for cooking sticky rice and pounding it. Speaking of tools to pound mochi such as “wooden mallet” and “stone mortar,” it was almost first time to hold and use them for many of students, and some had trouble pounding well with those heavy stuff. Actually, some girls left the role of pounding to boys and enjoyed making mochi balls wrapping sweet red bean paste.

After the hard work, here finally came to munch fresh prepared mochi and free-serving miso soup! Mochi were all the more delicious because students made it by themselves. 

In addition, there happened to be some interaction with junior high school students who also participated in this event and they introduced themselves each other in English, which was like a pop-up exchanging lesson.

When dismissed, the sky cleared up and participant students left the venue with satisfaction and being stuffed.

 ・今回の活動で留学生の方々と英語で話せたのが大きな収穫だった。また餅つきでは久しぶりに餅をついて楽しかった。（長崎総合科学大学1年　日本）／I was happy to have a golden opportunity to talk with exchange students as making mochi together. 　12/8に長崎大学総合体育館にて行われたNAGASAKIしごとみらい博にGPも参加してきました！
 　当日はポスターセッションとミニセミナーを行い、GPの活動に興味を持ってくれる人を増やすことができました。
　また、私たち企画運営委員も企業や地方自治体のブースを見て回り、社会で活躍されてる方々の話を直接聞くことができて、とてもいい機会になりました。
　このように大きなイベントに参加した経験を、今後の私たちの企画にも生かしていきたいです！
 
On 8th Dec, GP participated in the Nagasaki Job Exhibition organized at the gymnasium in Nagasaki University.
We held a mini seminar and poster session to introduce GP and were able to draw the interest of many people in our activities.
We, the GP committee members, also walked around in the exhibition and had the opportunity to talk to a few people from various big companies.
We hope that the things we learned from this event would be a great inspiration for our future event planning.

12월 8일에 나가사키대학교 종합체육관에서 개최한 나가사키 미래 일자리 박람회에 GP도 참가했었습니다 !
당일의 포스터 섹션과 미니세미나를 통해 GP의 활동에 관심을 가져주시는 분들이 늘어나게 되었습니다.
또한, 저희 기획운영위원들도 기업이나 지방자치단체의 부스를 구경하거나, 사회에서 활약하고 계신 분들의 얘기를 직접 들을 수 있어서 정말 좋은 기회가 되었습니다.
앞으로 저희들의 기획에도 이렇게 큰 이벤트에 참가한 경험을 살려나가고 싶습니다! 
 

我们GP参加了12/8在长崎大学综合体育馆举办的长崎未来职业博览会！
当日进行了海报发布会还有迷你会议，从而让更多人了解，并且对GP感兴趣。
我们策划部的学生也参观了周围其他企业以及当地团体的展位，和活跃在社会各界的人进行了交流，对我们来说是一个很好的机会。
希望我们会将在像这样的大活动里所学到的知识，应用到今后的企划活动里。

  12月2日、長崎大学総合体育館にてグローカル オリンピックを行いました。 いろんな留学生や日本人学生とスポーツを通して交流し、仲を深め合うことが出来ました！
  二人三脚や障害物リレーなど、日本人にはおなじみの競技も、留学生にとっては新鮮だったようで、みなさん大喜びで競技に参加してくれました。
  また、パン食い競争は日本人学生でも初めて体験する人も多く、「パンがなかなか取れなくて苦戦した！」と話している学生もいました。
  参加した多くの人から楽しかったと言ってもらえるイベントになってとてもよかったです！
  We held Japanese sports event “Undokai（運動会）” at Nagasaki University. Japanese students and international students of some universities in Nagasaki participated in this event.  We enjoyed some games which is unique to Japan, for example, Tug of war, Beanbag toss, and Three-legged race.Japanese and  international students had a good time to communicate with each other. Thank you. 
  12月2日，在长崎大学综合体育馆成功地举行了Glocal Olympic in Nagasaki！
  大家在运动会里交流，交到了很多其他国家的留学生朋友。
  很多人在比赛后都说很开心，作为运营，我们也非常开心！
  参加运动的各位，大家辛苦了！
  12월 2일 나가사키대학교 종합체육관에서 글로컬 올림픽 in Nagasaki 이벤트를 진행하였습니다! 
  다양한 국가에서 온 유학생, 다양한 대학교의 학생과 스포츠를 통해 교류하고, 서로  친해질 수 있는 계기가 되었습니다!
  참가한 많은 사람들으로부터 재미있었다고 들을 수 있는 이벤트가 되어 다행이라고 생각합니다!
  참가해 주신 여러분 모두 수고하셨습니다!

22日、野母崎中学校での授業にボランティアで参加しました。
この日参加した留学生は、イギリス、ガーナ、ザンビア、レソト、エジプト、台湾、ベトナム、カナダと、なんと8カ国の学生！
多国籍なメンバーで楽しく出発し、道中は「夫婦岩」や「軍艦島」、きれいな海など素晴らしい景色を堪能しながら野母崎中学校へ向かいました。。

中学校では、校長先生をはじめ多くの先生方や生徒のみなさんに温かく迎えてもらい、いざ、ボランティアスタートです！
中学生は、これまで授業で学んだ「地元・野母崎」について、フリップを使いながら英語や日本語で紹介をしてくれました。
途中に見た観光スポットの紹介なども含まれており、留学生は「あ！ここに来る途中で見た景色！すばらしかったよ」とうれしそうに話を聞いていました。
その後、留学生は中学生に質問をし、野母崎のまつりや歴史、自慢のレストランなど多くのことを教えてもらいました。
留学生からの英語での質問に、途中上手くコミュニケーションがとれないこともありましたが、そんなときにはジェスチャーも使いながら一生懸命伝えようとする中学生の姿が印象的でした。

留学生からの自国の紹介コーナーでは、写真や地図を使いながらそれぞれ自分の国について紹介しました。
「国旗の意味は？」「長崎まで何時間かけて来る？」「有名な食べ物は？」など、中学生にとっては初めて聞くこともあったことでしょう。
その後の質問タイムも盛り上がりました。

2時間ほどの活動でしたが、留学生、中学生ともに「もっと知りたい！もっと話したい！」という気持ちは高まったようで、別れを惜しみながら中学校をあとにしました。

この交流を通して、それぞれの語学に対する学習意欲や異文化への理解が高まることを願っています。

野母崎中学校のみなさん、お世話になりました！！

GP deployed 8 international students to the volunteer initiative at Nomozaki junior high school on Thursday. The delegation consisted of 8 different nationalities; Canada, Egypt, England, Ghana, Lesotho, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Zambia. Since this was the first time for all of them to trip far down of Nagasaki peninsula, as reaching to south on the way to Nomozaki, they enjoyed the scenery of coastal area and got excited to see “Meoto-iwa (Married Couple Rocks)” and “Gunkanjima (Battleship Island).” 

Upon arrival, the school principal and many teachers extended a warm welcome to volunteer students and they were soon led to the gymnasium in where about 80 pupils were waiting for the guests.

The class started on time as kids were divided into 8 groups and each volunteer was assigned to each group.

Kids had learnt about their community in class of “Nomozaki Studies” and been preparing the presentations to deliver to foreign brothers and sisters on this day. Now, here came the chance to demonstrate charms of Nomozaki as if they did, as guides, to foreign travelers. Some did good job introducing attractions of Nomozaki in English. Some others seemed to get nervous about communicating with volunteers but they helped each other with the rest of fellows in the same group, which was very heartwarming. Moreover, kids’ sincere attitudes touched volunteers and they handled the group work by managing hands-on Q&A with children about Nomozaki in simple English. 

In the last part of class, 8 volunteer students took the turn to introduce their home countries to kids. That was definitely well-experienced, matured and talented ladies and gentlemen! They brought illustrative slides and pictures to show where they come from. Kids were all ears to every presentation and some courageous ones gave it a try throwing questions in mix English-Japanese.

Two-hour class flew so fast that some students had to skip some slides, or whole presentation, pity to say. But that means this initiative must be continued to next time! 

While being so hard to farewell for both pupils and volunteer students (and teachers as well!), they called it a day, wishing to see again not before too long. GP administrative office will try keeping in touch with Nomozaki JHS to create this kind of opportunities to encourage direct interaction between middle school and university students to promote mutual understanding and increase motivation to learn different languages.

11/14 (水）は長崎大学にて、11/16（金）は 長崎県立大学シーボルト校にて、「留学・海外経験なんでも相談室」が行われました！
アメリカ、イギリス、インド、ザンジバルの4カ国に留学やフィールドワークに行った学生が、それぞれの国に行って感じたこと、留学して考えたこと、具体的な費用面のことなどをプレゼンしました。
その中では、イメージと違う現地の方の生活に驚いたことや、実際の生活で初めて体験したことなど、興味深い話をたくさん聞くことができました。
留学生活は楽しいことばかりではなく、つらいこともたくさんあったけれど、それでもそういう経験をできて本当に良かった！と話す学生の言葉は、これから留学を目指す学生にとっては印象深かったことでしょう。
4人の発表のあとは、発表者とのフリートークで盛り上がりました。
「実際に、どのぐらいの英語力が必要ですか？」「単位互換や留学資金について聞かせて下さい！」と、これからを見据えた質問がたくさんあり、具体的な目標や方向性へのアドバイスもたくさんあったようです。
発表者の皆さん、お疲れ様でした！そして、参加して下さった皆様、ありがとうございました！！

　諫早西ロータリークラブが主催する「諫早市民の集い」に、ＧＰ学生が参加しました。
　この「諫早市民の集い」は、長崎に集う留学生や諫早市民の方々が集まって毎年行われている交流イベントだそうで、今年は「異文化理解」というテーマをもとに開催されました。
　GPからは、会の最初に3人の学生がスピーチをさせてもらいました。
　それぞれが考える「異文化理解」ということで、“ちゃんぽん”をテーマに長崎の食文化と外国との交流や関係性を話したり、自らの留学体験をもとに「自分から一歩踏み出すことの大切さ」を話したりしました。
　
　その後は、参加者でグループになり、「ここが変だよ！日本！！」と題して自由に意見交換が行われました。
　日本はとてもきれいで清潔、日本人はみんな礼儀正しいといったプラスイメージは、長崎に来ても同じだったようで、「道路を渡ろうとしていたら車が止まってくれてびっくりした！」と話してくれた留学生がたくさんいたのには驚きました。
　日本で当たり前のことが外国では当たり前でないこともたくさんあるようですね。
　
　留学生から、改めて日本の良さや日本人らしさについて聞くことができ、もっともっと「日本」を理解してもらえるように積極的に発信していかなくちゃ！と感じた交流会でした。

　最後のあいさつで、ロータリークラブの方が、「みなさんのように若い学生さんは、全員が世界の宝！自分に磨きをかけるチャンスをどんどん掴んで、どんどん世界で活躍してほしい！」とお話しされたことが印象的でした。
　その言葉は、今回参加していた留学生や日本人学生の心にも響いたことと思います。

　スピーチや交流会を通して、改めて「異文化理解」について考える機会となったイベントでした。主催の諫早西ロータリークラブのみなさま、ありがとうございました。

11月11日（日）、晴天の下、長崎さるくボランティア団体「ながさき双六の会」が主催する、まちあるき双六大会に私たちもグループを作って参加しました。

今年も湊公園を皮切りに、5つのグループにわかれて出発しました。留学生と日本人学生に加わり、今回はアイルランドからの一般参加者も一緒に、長崎の町を歩いてまわりました。

ハートの植え込みを見つけたり、新しく世界遺産に選ばれた大浦天主堂に感動したり、水辺の森公園からの眺めを楽しんだり、と、思う存分楽しむことができました。

ポイントごとにサイコロを持って待ってくれていたボランティアの方々や、最後まで滞りなくイベントを運営してくれた団体の皆様に感謝！

おかげさまで、参加者はみんな、グループごとに町を散策しながらたくさんおしゃべりをし、長崎での思い出深い1日を過ごすことができました。

On the 11th of Nov., GP member students participated in the “Strolling Nagasaki Downtown Event (Dice Game ver.),” which is held annually by NPO “Nagasaki Sugoroku-no-Kai” (*), who aims to develop and promote tourism in Nagasaki by organizing and running town-strolling events. 

GP students were divided into 5 groups consisting of Japanese and exchange fellows respectively and all groups kicked off at Minato Park in the morning. This year, GP was honored to welcome an Ireland male, who happened to travel around Nagasaki and wanted to experience his destination in an unique way, to call in and stroll together.

There were many attractions and staple but can’t-miss sightseeing spots where participants could drop in as rolling the dice and forwarding spot to spot based on the number of the dice.

Students enjoyed free entry to the Oura Cathedral, the oldest wooden church of Gothic architecture in Japan recently recognized as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, encountering a heart-shaped shrub, feeling cozy breeze at the port area, free bites of Nagasaki traditional sweets “castella” and popular yummy snacks like “steamed pork buns,” and going up and down nostalgic steeps, being overwhelmed at the newly built prefectural government office bldg. in modern-style… and more.

To wrap up the game, as one of its highlights, a lottery game entertained all the participants with splendid prizes.

GP students were filled with satisfaction with little fatigue and new friendships they’ve built after all. It’s no doubt that we have to admit that all the volunteer and running staff to organize this event made this day!! Thank you!!

特別養護老人ホームサンハイツで行われた「ありがとうフェスタ」にて、ボランティアに参加しました。
留学生がたくさん参加させてもらい、利用者の方々や高校生と交流しました。
餅つきのお手伝いでは、初めての経験に大喜びの学生たち、日本ならではの行事に驚きながらも楽しくお手伝いをさせてもらいました。
　

A senior care center located in the middle of Nagasaki city, “Sun Heights” asked university students joining in its periodical festival and many exchange students of GP participated in to do volunteering works and interact with seniors and local high school students.

The highlight of the festival was mochi (rice cake) pounding and male students played superbly!
